"On Monday, October 25, 2021, Dr. Liz Evans, associate professor of Public Health at UMass-Amherst and co-PI of the JCOIN Massachusetts Research Hub, testified before the Massachusetts Legislature’s Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery about the importance of providing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in correctional settings and shared findings from her work within JCOIN. The hearing focused on several of the state’s legislative efforts to improve the state’s response to the opioid crisis, including legislation that would require all state and county correctional facilities to offer all three FDA-approved forms of MOUD."
